Angel Wings or Schizanthus. Kochouso or Murekochou in Japanese. Also known as poor man’s orchid and fringeflower. Many flowers have been compared to butterflies, but Schizanthus is the only one that has received the common name of “butterfly flower.” Many bred and cultivated varieties in local nurseries.
This subfamily is the most basal grouping in Solanaceae. This flower was used by Celia Sánchez in the Cuban Revolution to hide telegrams.
