Enkianthus quinqueflorus Also called the Chinese New Year Flower because it blooms around the Chinese New Year, i.e. around February to early March.

The first time I saw these I was stopped in my tracks by these stunning pink snowbells that come from China. I now grow one of these in my garden. They are very similar to the Japanese Doudantsutsuji bush that we have here in Japan but the bells are much larger!

It is said that this plant is very rare. There is another species which is similar but of a lighter pinkish red-veined colouring called Enkianthus campanulatus
