In June, you can see the blooms of the Sweet Briar Rose “hamanasu” or Rosa Rugos. This is a famous native rose of Japan – particularly in the northern parts Hokkaido and Aomori prefecture – the state flower for Aomori prefecture. I saw a hamansu climbing Mt Moiwa in Hokkaido with my grandfather, but my picture is too blurred to post.
