Red lilies in front and coreopsis in the background are in bloom in my garden now.

Tickseed is the common name for the plant Coreopsis, a group of flowering plants in the Aster Family and Genus Coreopis. The flowers are usually yellow with a toothed tip though ours featured in the above photo are red and white. The name is derived from the Greek word koris, meaning Bedbug. The plants are also popularly called “Calliopsis.” This genus is primarily native to North America.

 

 

The yellow variety is the most commonly seen one in gardens
