I love it when it’s clover season. Native Japanese clover (kuroba in Japanese) are white in color while the Chinese clover are pink, although the latter are now naturalized and have become a part of the local landscape. Clover emerge from spring till mid-summer.
Three leaves or four leaves?
Three-leaf clover are native and four-leaf clover are an invasive species. Milk vetch belong to the clover family. However, by adding more fertilizer you can get also get clover with more leaves, five, six, or more even.

Kids love clover, specially the girls. They can be seen busy picking the milk vetch or clover flowers and making clover chains. The activity is known as “kuroba ka renge no kubi-kazari tsukuri”.
