This Zelkova tree was photographed in the forest around Mt Takao. They are known as keyaki in Japanese and are among the first to show fall colour. Zelkovas are among the trees whose leaves are first to turn golden. Zelkovas are often planted in parks like this one nearby my home.
You can recognize them by their graceful dark coloured Y arching branches, see the photo below.
