Paederia scandens. Paederia means “paidor”(smell) and scandens refers to the vine’s climbing characteristic;scandent, climbing. Its Japanese name is hekusougazura.

 

The plant bears lovely golden berries. It must have sun, and likes a sandy or heavy clay soil. It is used medicinally to treat paralysis, abdominal pain, abscesses, arthristis, overeating.
